East Suffolk Businesses Sign Up for New Training Support

The East Suffolk Ambition to Employ programme delivers support to East Suffolk based businesses who are considering expanding and hiring staff within the next six months to help them grow their businesses.

The package is delivered without charge to those SMEs based within East Suffolk and gives the business owner the key support required in hiring new staff.

Peter Wood, project leader for MENTA Business support says “Clients receive some very practical support in business expansion and the processes required when hiring staff”

Clients' testimonial -

“Thank you very much for today’s session – can’t really fault it, really informative and delivered in a very engaging way that enabled me to really think about how the information can be used in the business now, and in the future.”

After completing the programme, participants will be able to –

• Assess when the time is right to take on their first employee.

• Understand their preferred communication style and those of others so that they can ‘flex’ their style to achieve better outcomes.

• Define the role of their first employee and craft a winning job description.

• Learn how to attract talent, shortlist, interview candidates and make a job offer.

• Understand what resources are needed to take on their first employee.

• Gain skills needed to successfully onboard, train and support a new employee.

• Implement work-based learning systems to support employee and business growth.

MENTA’s CEO and chairman of NEN Alex Till said.

Rolling out Ambition to Employ ensures that the latent potential for solo entrepreneurs to contribute to job creation and wider economic growth is capitalized upon. When it comes to new businesses, the hiring of staff is a skills gap that needs closing. A lot of public sector investment has been directed at training high potential growth start-ups: what we are offering here is a high-quality solution for “standard” businesses including sole traders, and the National Enterprise Network have the capability to roll it out to dozens of training providers across the UK.

Ambition to Employ is an Erasmus+ funded project which brings together partners and experts from the United Kingdom, Poland, Spain, Denmark and Ireland. In the UK, National Enterprise Network have been instrumental in getting this innovative training model ready to roll out across the enterprise support industry.
