Why a wine tasting experience could make the perfect seasonal gift
Everyone knows someone who’s impossible to buy a gift for. This Christmas, why not consider giving an experience, rather than a present which could be forgotten about almost immediately?
If you know someone who loves wine, for example, you could do far worse than present them with a wine tasting experience in a local bar, which will give them inspiration for new vintages while increasing their knowledge.
Oak N4, based in north London’s Wells Terrace, sells a regularly refreshed total of 180 wines by the bottle with 30 by the glass, including organic and vegan varieties.
Its owner, Cameron McKeown, and his team love passing on their wine expertise, gained over many years.
McKeown, who has travelled widely and completed education courses run by Raul Diaz of Sunday Brunch, explains: “We rotate what we offer, so there’s always a new one to try. I wanted Oak N4 to be different to other wine bars. Whilst the wine is our core product, providing a personal service is our focus.”
The focus is on giving customers wine they actually enjoy drinking, and on providing a complete experience.
So a tasting session here could be the perfect festive idea for the wine buff in your life.
McKeown adds: “Our tasting sessions for groups or pairs are relaxed, unpretentious and fun – we call them Wine Flights. We love hosting them and never over-complicate wine, but just help people to understand what they’re drinking a little bit more.”
Oak N4 also serves cold sharing platters and snacks to accompany its wines.
