One in the Oven Club launches Wealden venue for local, expert antenatal care
Local businesswoman and mother Kelly Ainsworth, director of Modern Mummas and One in the Oven Club (OITOC), has announced the launch of a new Wealden venue for her one-of-a-kind, expert-filled, antenatal classes.
OITOC offers women in rural Kent the opportunity to access the kinds of experts normally only available in the county’s larger towns – all packaged up in the eclectic, boutique environment of Bloomsbury’s in Biddenden.
Consisting of a midwife, first aider, chiropractor, massage therapist and personal trainer, as well as Kelly’s own professional expertise as a qualified nanny and maternity nurse, the team is well-placed to deliver much-needed information to Wealden mothers-to-be in their own locality.
She said: “When I was expecting my second son, there just wasn’t the array of services available on my doorstep as there are in the larger towns, especially with many NHS classes being cut. Mums-to-be in rural Kent who want to learn about birth, have to travel maybe 10 to 15 miles to attend classes.
“I decided to bring together some local experts that I knew and trusted with own my maternity and neonatal requirements, and together we have created something I believe is truly unique in Kent – continuity of care through pregnancy and into motherhood, including breastfeeding support.”
The seven week courses, held at Bloomsbury’s on Sissinghurst Road in Biddenden, are open to women at any stage of their pregnancy. Kelly continued: “Once you’re a member, you can attend six of our workshops, and we also have a final session at the end where we all get together for a social. It’s quite possible that some of the ladies will have had their babies by that time, so we get to meet the bumps too!”
