New figures show only 5% of households have taken advantage of free energy efficiency measures worth hundreds
Today's government energy efficiency headlines show that many UK households are still to take advantage of free insulation measures that could save them hundreds of pounds each year on their energy bills.
Under the government Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, which runs until 31st March 2017, large energy suppliers are obliged to deliver energy savings to UK households - through measures such as free loft and cavity wall insulation and replacement boilers. Whilst almost two million homes have benefited from the scheme, many households still don't realise they could benefit.
David Sheridan, Founder of money-saving service Onedox said "Alongside never staying on an energy tariff once the minimum term has expired, taking advantage of these free insulation measures will ensure UK families can minimise their energy bills and potentially save hundreds of pounds each year. To check eligibility you simply need to complete a few questions on any of the main energy provider websites or give your energy provider a call."
