Cleaning trends to help make 2021 squeaky clean

Cleaning your home has never felt like less of a chore than it has these past 12 months. Whilst the pandemic has forced every single one of us to stay at home, it has also allowed us to add a little shine as we spend every waking minute within its four walls. As a result of the pandemic, many trends have come to the surface – whether you are aware of them or not, you need not worry as Chris from national cleaning company Poppies is sharing some of the most important ones you need to know for 2021.

“Understandably, people have been putting much more emphasis into their cleaning regimes lately,’ said Chris. “Across the region, people have been following government advice, listening to the experts in the industry and even taking inspiration from your favourite influencers. As the pandemic shows signs of coming to an end, whether it’s you who will still be wearing the marigolds, or a professional cleaner, several trends are shaping the industry.”

- The perfect cleaning regime. Whilst we’ve witnessed many different variations of the best ways to clean your house, there has also been great encouragement to implement to your own regime. With a two-step method consisting of cleaning then sanitising (yes, it’s really that simple), there’s no chance of falling short when it comes to protecting your home. This has now become an essential in our very own service – appropriately called Clean and Sanitise.

- The rise of influencers. Whether you love them or hate them, online influencers are everywhere - in the cleaning world, we're constantly inspired by Mrs Hinch, Stacey Solomon and Lynsey Queen of Clean. Whilst they’re useful for recommending the latest products to keep your home in tip-top condition (usually at a reasonable price), they can be also influential in gathering information and sharing advice and tips.

- The battle of the vacuums. Don’t get sucked into the overwhelming desire to empty your wallets for a new vacuum cleaner. The pandemic has caused a surge of many new products hailed as the ‘next best thing’ to rid the virus from your home. Cordless appliances often don’t have the lasting power to get round your whole home, whilst robotic versions can’t reach the edges and typically fail to pick up larger debris – it’s probably best if you stick to your trusty corded vacuum cleaner until the top performers come down in price.

Chris added, “Perhaps the last thing you want to do, after working from home and home-schooling, is clean the house. If you’re too busy to be keeping up with the latest cleaning trends, then you could consider seeking help from a professional. Services can continue throughout lockdown, and extra precautions are in place to ensure it’s as safe as possible. Not only does a professional cleaner take a large job off your to-do list, but they can also help to create your very own haven for when you finally settle down in the evening.”
