York cleaning business celebrates a successful first anniversary

This month, York-based cleaning business, Poppies, is celebrating its first anniversary of providing high-quality cleaning services for families and businesses in need in the area. Since launching, former railway engineer and owner, Edden Jones, has created multiple job opportunities for devoted, professional cleaners, while also helping to alleviate the pressure of home hygiene maintenance in today’s high paced society.

Since Covid-enforced restrictions came to an end, the demand for professional cleaners is continuing to grow exponentially. With an office based in Fulford, the cleaning business has wasted no time in becoming a root of the community. Providing various cleaning services for both families and local businesses, the team currently serves 36 clients, amounting to over 250 hours of cleaning every month.

“I can’t believe how fast the last year has gone!” said Edden. “It’s the perfect time to reflect on how far Poppies, and my incredible team, has come since we first started operating in the area. Going from taking my first steps as a local business owner to today, having the opportunity to manage some amazing people who are devoted to providing exceptional services, is something I’m incredibly proud of. The last year has allowed us to nurture a very happy, diverse range of customers, who not only approach us for friendly cleaning advice, but commend our services. It’s lovely to have entered the new year not only celebrating our first anniversary, but to be serving more happy faces around the community, which will continue growing throughout 2023 and beyond.”

Boasting a 5-star online rating, Poppies is helping to restore customer confidence in professional cleaning services, and shows no signs of slowing down, building on the business’s incredible progress at a rate that suits the team and the community. Edden is excited to continue bringing Poppies’ services to those in need of expert cleaning, as well as opening more employment opportunities to ambitious and active members of the community.

“I can’t wait to continue growing and seeing where life as a local business owner and service provider takes me. It’s brilliant that I’m in a position to continue opening more diverse job opportunities to the York community, and I get to do that at a pace that suits me and that suits the standard of service we want to maintain as a team. We’re on a massively upwards trajectory and the demand is growing. I’m very excited about the future and I’m really building this project to work in a way that suits our ambitions as a team,” added Edden.

Poppies also covers Clifton, Rawcliffe, Skelton, Haxby, Wigginton, Earswick, Huntington, Heworth, Tang Hall, Osbaldwick, Dunnington, Fulford, Southbank, Bishopthorpe Copmanthorpe, Dringhouses, Foxwood, Woodthorpe, Acomb, Holgate, Upper Poppleton and Nether Poppleton. It is part of a national network of 24 offices, creating over 500 jobs and delivering high-quality cleaning to over 6,000 homes on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis in line with clients’ individual needs
