Media invitation: meet celebrities, TV personalities and athletes at an exclusive pop-up, rooftop campsite in London to celebrate the boom in staycations and caravanning
Date for your diary: Tuesday, 28th September
Location: A pop-up, roof-top campsite in central London - on the roof terrace at One New Change, London, EC4M 9AF
Media reception: Staycations are here to stay - so we're hosting an end of summer party to review the 2021 staycation and caravanning boom - and think about adventures ahead for 2022
Time: 5pm until 9.00pm
We would like to invite you to join a range of special celebrity guests at a media reception to celebrate the boom in staycations and caravanning during the COVID pandemic at a unique, pop-up rooftop campsite overlooking St Paul's cathedral - complete with a caravan that is going to be carefully craned into London's skies especially for it. We will be the first to lift a caravan onto a rooftop in London, and the extremely complex logistics involved have taken a whole year of planning, but it will be worth it. (There will be images and video of the caravan being craned and of it in situ on the rooftop available.)
The celebrity guests all have something in common: they've enjoyed staycations, the great outdoors or caravan holidays.
They include TV presenters, Olympic champions, athletes, footballers, musicians and even a stuntman who doubles for Daniel Craig in the next Bond film (see full list below), plus experts from the hosts of the evening, the Caravan and Motorhome Club and Britain's longest-running caravan and motorhome manufacturer, Bailey of Bristol.
The following have confirmed they will be joining us for the evening:
Matt Allwright: TV presenter (BBC Watchdog, Rogue Traders, etc.)
JB Gill: from the boyband JLS, now a TV presenter, farmer and patron of The Prince’s Countryside Fund
Peter Shilton OBE: the football legend and most capped English footballer
2 x British Canoeing Olympic champions: Mallory Franklin and Emma Wiggs) with their medals
Michelle Collins: the actress well known for her roles in EastEnders and Coronation Street
Andy Torbet: TV presenter and ex-Army extreme adventure sportsman, explorer, stuntman (a stunt double for Daniel Craig in the next Bond film), BBC One Show presenter – and Dad to two young boys with his partner, the talented jazz musician, Becki Biggins
Becki Biggins: a multi-award-wining singer, songwriter and saxophonist with a new album, It’s a Man’s World
Tony Cottee: SKY TV football commentator and former professional footballer and coach
Rowland Rivron and wife Monica: actor, comedian and TV personality. They've caravanned for 20 years and produced a caravanning cookbook
Julie Peasgood – actress, TV presenter and travel journalist
Dee Anderson – actress and jazz musician
Marcus Leach: an ultra-cyclist who pedaled from John O’Groats to Land’s End this year with his wife and two young children behind in a motorhome. He also had a summer caravan holiday with his parents and friends in Wales. His cycling achievements include the Tour du Mont Blanc and BikingMan Corsica and Oman.
To show how it's possible to be green and tow and tour with an electric car, the caravan (a 2022 Bailey Unicorn Vigo, worth nearly £28,000) will be towed into the Ultra Low Emissions Zone by an all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQC.
Bailey of Bristol likes to make people think differently about caravans and the places you can explore with them. Previous stunts including towing across the centre of Australia, a winter adventure above the Arctic Circle to Lapland, and to Istanbul via 21 countries in 21 days. In 2022, Bailey hopes to resume its Sahara adventure to Morocco (which had to be aborted in 2020 due to COVID).
We'd be very grateful if you could RSVP as soon as possible to let us know if you’d like to join us for the evening – and if there’s any guests you’d particularly like to speak to. If you have any questions, please let me know.
RSVP: john@rawlingscommunications.com or 07847 371436.
We look forward to seeing you.
Regards,
John.
