Family Christmas at Easter? Book now… or live with lockdown.

Premium travel firm Reglar Collection, with an extensive portfolio of clients’ quality UK cottages, castles and houses for rent, is advising those who have deferred the family Christmas get together from December 25th to Easter, to book their celebration cottage now or miss out. Prompted by the comments on 16 December by Communities Secretary, Robert Jenrick MP, the demand for premium Easter locations is forecast to increase even more.

Chairman of Reglar Collection, Peter Reglar explained, “ Of our portfolio of over 250 cottages and castles in the UK, over 90% are already committed for the Easter fortnight, with a clear trend towards families who historically celebrate Christmas moving their plans to Easter, when the hope is that the Covid vaccine will have removed the lockdown restrictions. But for those who not yet reserved their cottage, demand is rapidly outstripping supply, and delaying booking may well leave them missing out on the annual family celebration.”

Singling out seriously special locations still available for late comers Peter Reglar advises, “The South coast promises something a little different from the normal Christmas experience, with the prospect of beaches for grandchildren, and our Cornwall and Devon locations are virtually sold out. But there is still the chance of seasonal snow in the North where families might just be able to relive Christmas in seasonal surroundings.”

Two special picks still available at Easter, but not for long, for those with the dream the to play Lord of the Manor, and the budget are:

• Fenton Tower

Fenton Tower is a magnificent, fortified 16th Century tower located 18 miles East of Edinburgh near the coastal town of North Berwick. The castle’s location was originally chosen in the 11th Century because it afforded panoramic views in all directions and has had many distinguished visitors, among them being King James VI of Scotland (son of Mary Queen of Scots and Lord Darnley) who took refuge there as he fled from the rebel army in Fife across the Firth of Forth.

With the capacity to accommodate 12 guests, at just over £1000 a week each there are few better options for a ‘late Christmas’.

• Loch Lomond Manor

Similar in size, but less than half the cost is Loch Lomond Manor. The house itself boasts buckets of character and charm across its five individual turrets, with beautiful period features throughout from tapestries in the drawing room to some of the largest bathtubs you will ever see! Loch Lomond Manor is both formal and welcoming. Staying in this house gives guests the opportunity to experience the golden age of British architecture – Edwardian Scotland – with all its charms.
