Robots are increasingly being used to fill job positions for roles which are considered too dangerous to take on by human employees, a UK bot provider has highlighted.

Bots.co.uk has built up a reputation as a leading authority on robots as a service, fulfilling requirements up and down the UK as part of the wider artificial intelligence trend which has emerged in multiple injuries.

Now the West Midlands company has lifted the lid on the growing preference for bots to fill roles which many human professionals can deem too dangerous.

Bots.co.uk has pinpointed five dangerous professions which have been revolutionised by robot technology, and could yet see the human workforce cut down for these dicey roles, saving lives in the process.

The jobs bots are now being assigned to include; arc welding, in environments with very high temperatures and the possibility of dangerous chemical reactions; cow herding, with bots efficiently controlling large numbers of animals and cutting down the risks involved for farmworkers; oil pipeline inspections, which could previously require human workers to operate in very cramped conditions, utilising ultrasonic sensors; fire service roles, including assessments of burning buildings which would put firefighters in perilous danger; and cleaning on nuclear sites, where nuclear byproducts need to be cleared away on-site and in vehicles.

Firefighters in Australia, where bush fires have posed a huge problem recently, are already being supported by drones which can improve the accuracy of water dropping.

Bots.co.uk has underlined its belief that robots will soon become the safest - and in many cases the most cost-efficient - option for many of the roles which previously put human life at risk.

A company spokesperson for Bots.co.uk said: "Robots as workers are really taking off to fill dangerous jobs that people cant find employees for. We have monitored this trend at close quarters, and have seen how bots are now helping employers to fulfil roles which they find hard to recruit for. It isn't just safety where bots are excelling, because in many ways they also offer a new level of accuracy and efficiency in completing tricky tasks. As the market develops, we see more dangerous jobs - from emergency rescue to protecting environmental sites - as being ideally suited to robots."
