Yorkshire homelessness charity celebrates series of corporate partnerships with scheme relaunch

A Yorkshire-based homelessness charity has announced that it has secured eight corporate partnerships in the new year.

Simon on the Streets has announced that it has secured eight ‘charity of the year’ partnerships with corporate supporters since the beginning of the year.

The partnerships will see the charity receive support from Asda (Legal Team), CreativeRace, Enact Conveyancing, GIG Retail, Santander Leeds Branches, StepChange (Ireland & Mortgages Teams), Sticky Eyes and Victoria Gate Casino.

Victoria Gate Casino will also sponsor and host the charity’s ‘5 for 5’ corporate partnership scheme relaunch event.

The event will take place at Victoria Gate Casino on Wednesday 28 March at 5pm- 7pm and invites business people to attend to find out more about the initiative.

Simon’s 5 for 5 is a scheme which sees businesses enter into a forward-looking corporate partnership with Simon on the Streets, committing to donate at least £500 per year for five years.

Founded in 1999, Simon on the Streets is an independent charity, which relies solely on sponsorship, fundraising and donations. The charity works with local people who are affected by homelessness and rough sleeping in Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield. The organisation offers street-support to individuals who have complex needs and cannot access mainstream services, due to behavioural issues or mental illness.

The 5 for 5 partnership donations will aid the charities vital work with rough sleepers across the Yorkshire region.

The relaunch event will allow businesses to find out more about the 5 for 5 initiative and how they can take part as well as consist of networking, food and drink.

The event is free to attend and open to any business representatives interested in finding out more about the 5 for 5 initiative. To book onto the event or for further information, email fahad@simononthestreets.co.uk.

Commenting on corporate partnerships at Simon on the Streets, general manager at the charity, Gordon Laing said:

“It has been a wonderful start to 2018 with eight ‘charity of the year’ partnerships already secured. We rely solely on sponsorship, fundraising and donations and these corporate partnerships really play a key role in the continuation of our crucial work with the homeless community.

“We would like to thank all of the businesses that have already partnered with us, and Victoria Gate Casino for being so hospitable and hosting the 5 for 5 relaunch event. The scheme is a simple and easy format for companies to do their bit and give back to the local community, we hope to see local business people at our event and look forward to working in collaboration in the near future.”

Patrick Noakes, managing director at Victoria Gate Casino commented:

“We are looking forward to hosting the Simon on the Streets 5 for 5 relaunch event, which will help to successfully achieve further corporate support for the charity. As a local business, we are dedicated to supporting the community and hold a clear focus on social responsibility. Simon on the Streets is a fantastic charity and we are proud to support their continuous work with rough sleepers across Yorkshire.”
