Smart Butcher App Enables Social Distancing for Ethnic Minority (Muslims)
Smart Butcher Ltd. is aiming to become the ‘go to’ app for butchers and anyone wishing to purchase meat from their local butchery. The Smart Butcher app would enable consumers to place their meat orders and pay for it through this app. This would essentially become a click and collect service, saving butchers the hassle of taking orders and collecting payments in store. It will also reduce the in-store waiting time for consumers. The Smart Butcher app will be real-time meaning the butcher will be able to sell off their perishable goods which is reaching its ‘use by’ date, at a reduced price. Usually such meats go to waste. This app could be the need not just for the UK but global meat markets too.
Current Covid-19 pandemic has created a massive problem for consumers to buy meat from butchers. If we look at Halal and Kosher Meat shops we can see that these communities are the largest consumers of fresh meat. Halal and Kosher meat is not widely available at large supermarkets, hence people from Muslim and Jew background tend to use their local specialised butchers. It has been very clear to us that a third of critically ill patients with Covid-19 are from ethnic minority background. This is mainly due to the limited space in these shops, hence implementing social distancing impossible.
We aim to bridge the gap between local businesses and communities through the use of technology especially at this time of the current pandemic. Our app will not only save small businesses from becoming over crowded threatening the health of both customers and the butchery workers but will also introduce fair pricing.
Smart Butcher App is Raising crowd funding which will be used to speed up the creation of this App. The app will be free to use and can be used by Butchers and Consumers globally.
