Snap-on Tools makes its mark on British franchising industry
The world’s number one professional tool brand, Snap-on Tools, has been shortlisted amongst the nation’s leading franchises. Hand-picked by a panel of judges, the 100-year-old man-in-a-van franchise is now in the running to win the title of the British Franchise Association’s (bfa) ‘Franchisor of the Year’.
“We’re over the moon to have been shortlisted and recognised alongside other incredible franchisors,” explained National Franchise Manager, Lisa Law. “This achievement is a great indication of how much we do for our network of over 400 franchisees around the country. I’m very proud to be a part of the team and thank every single person in the Snap-on family for their continued commitment and hard work over the last 12 months.”
The Franchisor of the Year award is an honour that is held in high regard across the entire British franchising industry. Sponsored by HSBC, the awards recognise the very best franchised businesses in the country, celebrating consistent growth, innovation, network support and contribution to the sector. In the latest bfa NatWest survey, it was reported that franchising contributed over £17billion to the UK economy. As one of the few brands shortlisted in this category, Snap-on is part of an elite group of franchisors flying the flag for gold-standard franchising across the UK.
Andy Brattesani, Head of UK Franchising at HSBC, said: “HSBC has been sponsoring the awards for many years and we feel it is such an important event on the franchising calendar. Everyone who is shortlisted shows excellence in franchising, which is pivotal to what the awards are all about.”
If awarded this accolade, this would be the second national franchising award in less than twelve months for the UK team. In late 2019, the nationwide franchisor topped the polls in the annual Elite Franchise Top 100, fighting off competition from hundreds of other industry leaders to secure first place.
“We’re very proud of our heritage as a global brand, having maintained our position as the tool manufacturer of choice for the modern technician since launching in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1920,” continued Lisa. “We attribute the success of our franchise opportunity to the innovative ways in which we encourage new talent into the network. Our tools are known as the best in the business, so we’ve often found talented prospects wanting to buy a franchise but have not yet been able to raise all the required funds to invest. We’re all about inspiring the next generation of franchisees at Snap-on, so we launched our reduced entry package to help these entrepreneurs get out on the road.”
In a bid to open their award-winning franchise opportunity to a wider audience, the tool manufacturer and distributor launched a reduced entry package to their Franchise. Prospects can now invest in their own van-based franchise for less than £12k, meaning they can join the global network during their centenary year.
“It’s a welcome relief to be able to celebrate something as special as this during what is an incredibly difficult time. It’s just the sort of good news that we need to help boost our spirits. We’re doing all we can to support our network and insulate franchisees from the worst where possible. Thankfully, as a well-established, robust brand, our franchisees are in a better position than most independent business owners. However, we recognise and that this is an incredibly worrying time for everyone.
“Reaching any milestone - whether that’s one year, two or 20 – in franchising and in business is well worth a celebration. We’re incredibly proud to recognise 100 years in business this year and to win this award would be an incredible reflection on the dedication and hard work of the hundreds of staff and franchisees that make Snap-on what it is today,” said Lisa.
Winners of the HSBC bfa Franchisor of the Year Awards 2020 will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony that will take place at The VOX, in Birmingham, in November.
