Stirling Distillery Welcome New Distiller

Stirling Distillery has recruited Lisa Matthews, named Scotland’s youngest female brewer in 2020 into their team. Known for her Heaven Cent new session IPA creation, Lisa joins Stirling from Harviestoun brewery in Clackmannanshire. Originally from Islay, Lisa studied Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University.

Lisa returns to Stirling Distillery after working for the family run business in 2017 and 2018. She had a variety of roles as part of the team including e-marketing, bottling and labelling and managing gin sales. Lisa worked at the annual Stirling Gin festival and Whisky Festival as well as supporting intimate private functions.

With years of experience working in the drinks industry including with Bruichladdich and Eden Mill distilleries, Lisa is now working on a new-make spirit for Stirling Distillery’s new line of whisky. Speaking about her appointment, she said “Stirling Distillery has always felt like home to me so I’m excited to be back in the team and starting on this whisky journey with them. I love the focus they have on celebrating Stirlingshire history and how they integrate it into their spirits and packaging. It’s an honour to be part of the team and at a very exciting time for Stirling Distillery as they expand into whisky production”.

The distillery launched their limited edition Sons of Scotland whisky range in January 2021 and plan to start whisky production in November 2021. Casks will be available later in 2021 for whisky enthusiasts to pre-purchase. These will be limited in number and offered on a first come basis.

About Stirling Distillery

Stirling Distillery We wanted to bring something unique to the ever growing world of Scottish Gin. In our recipe we feel we have achieved that goal. The result is a spirit with a big nose and very satisfying profile, whether neat or with a premium tonic of your choice. Our core gin is infused with hand picked Stirlingshire nettles, basil, lemon and orange peel, juniper and angelica root. This forms the base to our other products, all distilled at Stirling Distillery. As a result, our nearly navy strength Battle Strength Gin packs a mighty punch, while the Folklore Collection uses local fruits and herbs to create our range of gin liqueurs. Our entire range is inspired by the mythologies and history surrounding Stirlingshire and its beautiful castle. In 2019 we opened our doors at the foot of Stirling Castle. We are the first gin distillery in the beautiful city of Stirling and are proud to use local ingredients to create our outstanding Scottish spirits.
