Award winning Thriller of the Year now available in print and E-Book

Number one best-selling audiobook ‘Winter Dark’ made publishing history when it went to the top of the UK Audible charts last year. It was the J.M.M winner of the Audiofile Earphones award and was a finalist at the Audies in March 2020.

The Black Mirror meets James Bond series stars Winter, a female GCHQ agent who specialises in the dark web. The book features high levels of sex and violence, a first for a best-selling audio book.

First time author Alex Callister describes her ass-kicking heroine as

‘not making it in a man's world. She is the world. She is the hero'

Callister herself has a history of making it in a man's world having spent her career on city trading floors. She is an equity analyst with a particular interest in tech, media and internet stocks and has been a 'Woman of the Year’

As an analyst in the mid 1990’s, Alex covered the initial public offering of Amazon and wrote in her report 'The only way the value placed on this company makes sense is if every household in the western world has an Amazon account and uses it every month... a fantastical assumption.' She has spent her career charting the rise of the internet and watching it transform industry and society.

The Winter books take place in a dystopian world where a contract killing website, 'Firestorm' dominates. 'I can see it happening,' says Callister. 'Technology is a major crime facilitator. That is what the internet does. It facilitates.'

'The internet changed everything,' says Winter. 'It made the world small.'

'Callister's experience as a City analyst of tech companies has alerted her to the dark side of the information revolution. “The internet has facilitated the maximum realisation of human nature,” she says. And she is not talking about random acts of kindness or a fondness for cat videos. “If you want to do weird stuff, no matter how extreme, then the internet can connect you to someone in New Zealand (or wherever) who wants it too. These are people who should never meet. The novels are dystopian adventures in the surveillance society, featuring what she calls “toxic femininity”.... It’s probably the most direct riposte to Harvey Weinstein yet.' The Independent

The third book in the Winter series, WINTER DAWN, is coming soon.
