London Burger Co urges people to think more about their diets following World Food Day

A Muswell Hill hamburger business is encouraging people to think more about what they eat, following World Food Day on October 16, organised by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation.

In 2019, the event focuses on ‘nourishing people while nurturing the planet’, and argues that sustainable, healthy diets should be accessible and affordable to all. The occasion also calls on everyone to think about the food they consume.

The London Burger Co is urging customers and others to back the initiative.

Owner Rubait Hossain said: “We think World Food Day provides us with a great chance to reflect on dietary choices, and perhaps try something new. We know that while millions are starving, millions are overweight.

“Here we may offer quick food, but we focus on quality. We use only British Angus beef and locally sourced buns, and offer meat-free versions, to help reduce our impact on the planet.”

The company’s menu includes aubergine patties, homemade guacamole burgers, pineapple and brie burgers, Mexican burgers and chilli and cheese burgers, plus much more besides. Meanwhile, side dishes incorporate sweet potato fries, homemade coleslaw, and salads, so there are plenty of plant-based options.

Diners can also build their own burgers, with an almost unlimited range of toppings.

Choose on-site dining or pre-ordering for collection – the company is also on Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat and runs its own deliveries.
