Sussex business in line for national award recognising entrepreneurs

28 July 2020

Tiny Box Company, the eco-friendly gift packaging company, is in line for the Service Industries Entrepreneur of the Year award at the 2020 Great British Entrepreneur Awards for the South East region.

Tiny Box Company has been shortlisted from a long list of nominations. Their success recognises the way the business has adapted and thrived during the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the pandemic, the company’s growth has increased by 26% year on year, thanks to the launch of its new e-commerce platform, Tiny Marketplace, which gives small businesses a platform to sell and dispatch without leaving the house.

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledge the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the United Kingdom. The Awards have celebrated some outstanding entrepreneurs who have gone on to become household names. Previous winners include the founders of BrewDog, Tangle Teezer, The LAD Bible, Clearscore & The Cambridge Satchel Company.

Managing director and founder of Tiny Box Company, Rachel Watkyn, said:

“As just a small part of a wider business community coming together to support the UK's economic recovery from the pandemic, I’m proud to be named as a Great British Entrepreneur Awards finalist.

“Of course, I would not be in such a position without the support and dedication of my talented team.

“Over these past few months, the entire team has ensured Tiny Box has upheld the exceptional standards our customers have come to expect - and it's this dedication that has undoubtedly contributed to our continued growth in a year of never-before-seen challenges.”

Founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James, said: “Given what we’ve seen over the past few months, the 2020 edition of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards is arguably the most important. Now, more than ever, it’s vital that we celebrate the achievements of the country’s entrepreneurs and their determination in the face of such adversity.”

Anne Boden, founder and CEO of Starling Bank, said: “These entrepreneurs have gone above and beyond in order to allow their businesses to flourish in extremely difficult times and it is a true honour to congratulate each and every one of them.”

This year’s regional finals will be held on 23rd September. Judges of the awards include Hayley Parsons, who founded Go Compare, Cath Kidston, Lord Bilimoria of Cobra Beer and Kanya King, the founder of the MOBO awards.
