First Ever Global #MicroBizMattersDay Calls for Nine Minutes of Action This Friday 09 January

By the Enterprise Rockers CIC supported by live streaming from a partnership of SageOne and Google Apps for Business.

Micro enterprises with nine minutes to spare this coming Friday 09 January have the chance to make history and make a difference as the first #MicroBizMattersDay takes place organised by the Enterprise Rockers movement and supported by a partnership of SageOne and Google Apps for Work.

Hosted by Enterprise Rockers co-founders Tony Robinson OBE and Tina Boden, #MicroBizMattersDay is a global day of social actions. It will live stream from GoogleHQ in London for nine hours as everyone is asked to give nine minutes, day or night to make life better for micro enterprise (0-9 employees) owners everywhere.

Throughout the day special guests will appear in the studio and participate from around the world via Google Hangouts to help spread the word about the day and its mission. The vision of Enterprise Rocker co-founders Tony Robinson OBE and Tina Boden, the idea of the day is to make a difference through the #PowerOfPlenty, encouraging self employed people and micro businesses to help each other by giving 9 minutes to help others gain more customers or improve cashflow.

Tony Robinson OBE said, “The Enterprise Rockers movement has already achieved a great deal to make life better for micro enterprise owners but much more can be done by hundreds of thousands of people giving nine minutes of positive, helpful actions on one day each year. This is the basis and inspiration for #MicroBizMattersDay."

“Although, most countries are seeing record numbers of self-employed and micro enterprise owners (in the UK, for example 96% or 5 million businesses are micro enterprise) it is getting tougher to earn a reasonable living. In many countries the behaviour of national, regional and local government, alongside some large organisations, makes it an uphill struggle. In the UK 1 in 7 of the workforce is self-employed but earning 20% less than in 2008"

.

“The #MicroBizMattersDay of actions will enable more micro enterprises to survive and thrive around the world. Micro enterprises already create most new jobs, most innovation and most support to their communities so the future success of micro enterprise is in everyone’s best interest.”

Studio guests invited to appear on the live stream from GoogleHQ include Charlie Mullins OBE, Pimlico Plumbers, the first The Apprentice winner, Tim Campbell MBE, Entrepreneur Khalid Sharif and MOBO award winning rapper, Sway. Other special guests, including Britain’s award winning blues guitarist, Chantel McGregor, will participate via Google Hangout from locations including United States, Spain, Egypt and France – where co-founder Tina Boden will be based.

Suggested actions for the day are grouped into three categories; customers, cashflow and chat. Ms Boden said, “While nine minutes out of the day doesn’t seem like a lot, it’s a large enough timeframe to really help make a difference to a micro business owner. From setting up a marketing roundtable to joining a support group, paying outstanding bills owed to other micro businesses, signing a petition to support a local business or posting a tweet or Facebook message, the power of plenty means nine short minutes can have a big impact.”

#MicroBizMattersDay is the worldwide call to fill the gaps in policy and support by ‘Rockers doing it for themselves’. All business owners are asked to choose actions to take in 9 minutes in one of the 3 hash tagged categories of #Customers, #Cashflow or #Chat. Here are 2 examples of possible and useful actions under each category, and more become available daily on the #MicroBizMattersDay website at http://microbizmattersday.rocks.
