Local East Anglia tutoring business brings home international award
Rob and Lynne Kerrison, owners of Cambridge & Norwich tutoring business, Tutor Doctor, are celebrating a huge success after being crowned the winners of an international award celebrating their achievements. The award was presented at Tutor Doctor’s global conference in Toronto, Canada, held from 12th-14th December 2023.
The husband-and-wife-led company has been honoured with the Global Top Producer award after achieving the highest turnover in the business and delivery of well over 150,000 tutoring hours across East Anglia.
“It’s fantastic to get this recognition, and we are really proud to be awarded with this award, displaying just how far we have come,” said Rob. “A fundamental driver when we started Tutor Doctor was to help children be as good as they can be, no matter what their background or upbringing. The scale of our organisation now and the acceleration we have been has been as a result of us expanding into new areas of working and we have partnered now with over 50 schools and many local authorities, working with the more disadvantaged students, and that has been a huge motivation for us. This is a really proud moment for us both.”
Tutor Doctor Cambridge & Norwich provides in-home, in-school and online one-to-one and small group tutoring, helping students across the region to achieve their potential. Rob and Lynne’s sole aim is to change the trajectory of children’s lives for the better, giving them the support and personalised tutoring they need to set them up for success. With a team of nearly 200 highly qualified and carefully selected tutors, Tutor Doctor administers around 20,000 hours of tutoring each year, of which about 65% is to schools and local authority clients, working with significantly disadvantaged students who are often struggling with mental health issues and those unable to access mainstream schooling.
Up against 300+ franchisees from around the world, the duo came out on top. The couple were also nominated for the prestigious Franchisee of the Year award, despite already having won the award in the past and came close to the crown but were pipped to the post by a fellow franchisee from Canada. Rob was also invited to be a speaker at the conference, providing the inspiration and toolkit to lead other business owners in replicating their successes in other countries around the world.
“Rob and Lynne’s impact on education in their community, particularly with regards to their work with schools and local authorities, has been nothing short of phenomenal,” said Frank Milner, Global President of Tutor Doctor. “Their commitment to helping everyone to access exceptional-quality education is second to none, and that’s reflected in their award win and their business results. They’re completely focused on their local, friendly, professional and flexible approach, and their hard work to establish those community links does not go unnoticed. Rob and Lynne should be very, very proud of what they’ve achieved.”
