Local tutoring business brings coveted international award home

In December, local education specialist and owner of Tutor Doctor Central Southampton and Salisbury, Adie Twining, won a coveted international award in recognition of his commitment to raising the standards of education provision for students in the community. Adie was recently presented with the New Franchisee of the Year Award at Tutor Doctor’s annual conference in Florida and was nominated against a network of over 350 Tutor Doctor businesses across 16 countries.

Winning New Franchisee of the Year, Adie is recognised as the best ‘new player’ within the Tutor Doctor network. As well as celebrating significant financial success as a new business in the area, Adie has shown that he truly embodies the Tutor Doctor spirit and values. Within his first 12 months, the Managing Director-turned-local philanthropist has given free English Speaking Language (ESL) lessons to Ukrainian children who were uprooted from their homes. Through personalised, inspiring and stimulating classes, Adie was a key figure in instilling the confidence and ability the children needed for mainstream education. This was also recognised at the annual conference, as Adie presented to the entire network discussing all the good work he has done to support the community through the refugee project to date.

“I’m delighted to have been celebrated for my efforts as a new member of the international Tutor Doctor network,” said Adie. “I have so much pride in the local community and its incredible students. This is a huge thanks to my team of tutors for their unmatched talent, commitment and ambition. It’s brilliant to be bringing this award home, not just for Tutor Doctor, but for all local educators who sacrifice so much to inspire and motivate students on a daily basis. Through collaborating with local authorities and other passionate education specialists, it’s been a year filled with huge achievements that the whole community should be proud of. To have grown my business and been recognised on the international stage is a moment I will cherish forever!”

Disruptions to children’s education caused by the pandemic remains a huge issue in the UK, as reports suggest students are still eight months behind in learning1. It is because of this loss of learning that dedicated education service providers such as Tutor Doctor have been called upon to provide children in the area with additional support. Despite the global profile Tutor Doctor has, consisting of over 350 businesses, Adie has been recognised for his efforts towards addressing the ongoing need for exceptional, responsible education providers.

“The work doesn’t stop here! This marks the beginning of another exciting year for Tutor Doctor, and I can’t wait to enter 2023 having been able to celebrate my efforts not only as a part of an international education community, but with families and students in the area,” added Adie.

Adie, as well as being an established business owner in the local area, has the ultimate goal of becoming the most successful Tutor Doctor business in the UK. This award has validated his mission of changing the trajectory of the lives of local students. In doing so, he has made a lasting impact on the community. Tutor Doctor Central Southampton and Salisbury delivered over 4,500 hours of personalised, bespoke tuition to 140 students in the area in 2022.

About Tutor Doctor

Tutor Doctor is the fastest growing in-home tutoring franchise in the world. Business owners work with families to thoroughly asses a child’s needs and then carefully select the best-fit tutor based on goals, personality and learning style. Instead of the tired old centre-based model, tutors visit students at home or work via a state-of-the-art online learning platform so that students can learn in the comfort of their own home, at a time that suits them. For today’s busy families, this is a real benefit! The company was established in North America in 2000 and started its global expansion in 2003. It now has over 500 franchised offices in more than 14 countries and a network of 16,000 tutors. Operations in the UK began in 2009 and since then the company has experienced growth of 50% year on year and now has 80 franchise owners in the UK. The company is a proud member of both The Tutors Association and the British Franchise Association.
