New app 'wanders' onto the recruiting scene: how GPS technology is changing the way we search for jobs

The changing pace of technology has impacted few industries more than recruitment, as the internet offers an unprecedented opportunity to match potential employees and employers. Now, a new app is taking the role of technology in recruitment a step further: wander is an app where the job search moves with you.

Designed to pick up on target vacancies in your immediate proximity, the app was designed in an effort to increase the efficiency of the job hunt, showing potential employees relevant target vacancies and matching them with local employers.

The new app is the brainchild of experienced recruiter Luke Secker. Luke worked in recruitment for many years, honing his experience at Reed before being headhunted to launch and build a local agency. He decided to step away from the business at the end of 2017 to focus on the new venture.

Luke Secker, founder and director of wander, said: "After years of experience working in the recruiting industry, I started to notice a gap in the market. Location technology has existed for years, and we're all walking around with phones - it was my vision that before long, we'd see a world where job seekers and companies could be seamlessly matched with the power of technology."

With statistics indicating attention spans are shorter than ever, a movement towards app-based, smart recruiting could conceivably be an extremely smart one. wander has been specifically designed to have a seamless user experience, allowing job hunters to use simple, familiar swiping motions to navigate local jobs, save them for later or easily apply directly in the app.

wander already works with a range of employers such as Nandos, Cafe Rouge and Nuffield Health, and offers a range of vacancies typically in business support, hospitality and retail roles. The app is currently functional in the Norwich area, but has plans to expand nationwide.
