Children’s Alliance announces inaugural conference: The Child of Today is the Adult of Tomorrow

Children’s Alliance, an organisation dedicated to prioritising children, young people and families, is excited to announce their inaugural conference in partnership with the University of Worcester Business School. This groundbreaking event will take place on 26th June 2023, from 9am to 4.45pm at the Arena, University of Worcester Severn Campus.

Titled The Child of Today is the Adult of Tomorrow, the conference aims to create a collective voice combining child-centric concerns, business and education. It is designed to articulate compelling strategies to support a pathway from healthy childhood development to wellness throughout the life course, thereby realising the socio-economic ambitions of our wider society.

The conference will feature a stellar line-up of keynote speakers, including Pride of Britain award winner Omar Sharif. Sharif will share his journey through adversity and discuss ways he can help future generations. Dr Pamela Murray from the Interpersonal Relationships and Wellbeing Research Group at the University of Worcester and other experts will deliver insights on managing setbacks and adversity, physical health and activity, and mental health and wellbeing.

Paul Thompson, Founder of the renowned baby swimming organisation Water Babies, will close the conference. He will make a compelling case for a new Government department focused solely on Children, Young People and the Family.

"By bringing together experts from various fields, we hope to inspire a renewed focus on children and young people, not only as a matter of social justice but also for the future prosperity and wellbeing of our society," said Paul Wright, Communications Manager for the Children’s Alliance.

This conference is an opportunity for anyone interested in child development, education, social work, healthcare and public policy to gain valuable insights, make meaningful connections and contribute to shaping a society that works for everyone by prioritising children, young people and families.

Join us in shaping a better future for our children and our society. Together, we can ensure that the child of today truly becomes the adult of tomorrow. Tickets are just £20 to cover event costs and you can register your place at:

About Water Babies

In a nutshell, we teach water confidence and safety skills to babies and toddlers. However, we're about so much more besides. Our classes are great for making new friends, helping to enhance the bonding process, having fun... and seeing the utter thrill of your little one gliding underwater towards you. In the last three years alone we know our lessons were directly responsible for saving the lives of ten little ones who otherwise might have tragically drowned. That makes us very proud. And we like raising money for other babies. To date, we've raised over £750,000 for Tommy's. And we're aiming to raise another £200,000 for them (possibly!) this coming summer.
