Local business committed to the support of Milton Keynes new-borns

Tamsin Brewis, local business owner and mum of two, has committed to supporting not one, but two, Milton Keynes based organisations – both with Buckinghamshire new-born babies at the heart of their efforts.

Tamsin – who has owned Water Babies Bucks and Beds for almost 14 years – will spend the next 12 months collaborating with Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Rosamund McFadden. Formerly Infant Feeding Lead midwife at Milton Keynes University Hospital, Ros, who launched breastfeeding app “Breastfeeding Hub MK” in 2017, provides guidance to Milton Keynes expectant and new mums with breastfeeding.

With the backing of local sponsors and funding schemes, Ros has developed this much-needed hub, which offers support and guidance to those who are new to, or may be struggling with breastfeeding, and pinpoints exact ‘breastfeeding friendly’ locations throughout Milton Keynes. As a busy business woman and Mum of four, Ros values Tamsin’s insight and experience in running a child-focussed enterprise:

“Meeting Tamsin at this pivotal time has been of such benefit to my business. At the end of the day, we have a common passion for helping local parents. Over the next year, we’ll both be attending parenting events and increasing awareness of our individual businesses, with a mutual agenda to educate local families. With Tamsin’s knowledge of development through the benefits of baby swimming, and my knowledge in the benefits of breastfeeding, we make a great team and I’m very much looking forward to working with her.”

Tamsin’s second venture is a partnership with Milton Keynes University Hospital. Together, Tamsin and her team teach local new-borns, toddlers and pre-schoolers to swim during weekly sessions at four different locations across Milton Keynes. Now, the hydro-pool at Milton Keynes University Hospital has been added to the list. Tamsin is proud to partner with a hospital offering such an impeccable standard of care to the community and local teachers, Andreaa and Katharine, are looking forward to welcoming the little swimmers of Milton Keynes to their weekend classes. Tamsin and the Water Babies Bucks and Beds team are already planning fundraising efforts for the hospitals SCBU neonatal ward.

With 2018 set to be a year of growth for Water Babies Bucks and Beds – who already teach thousands of young children weekly – Tamsin is eager to expand on the support she can offer local organisations and charities:

“Working with both of these organisations is a perfect fit for Water Babies because we all put the health, care and development of local littles ones at the centre of what we do. If I can offer guidance, funding or boost awareness of these great causes, then I’m happy to collaborate and support where possible. At Water Babies Bucks and Beds, our focus is the happiness of our young swimmers, so it only seems right that we help out those causes safely bringing them into the world!”

About Water Babies

In a nutshell, we teach water confidence and safety skills to babies and toddlers. However, we're about so much more besides. Our classes are great for making new friends, helping to enhance the bonding process, having fun... and seeing the utter thrill of your little one gliding underwater towards you. In the last three years alone we know our lessons were directly responsible for saving the lives of ten little ones who otherwise might have tragically drowned. That makes us very proud. And we like raising money for other babies. To date, we've raised over £750,000 for Tommy's. And we're aiming to raise another £200,000 for them (possibly!) this coming summer.
