Local MP praises water company for investment in the local area and in greener technology

Ben Bradley, MP for Mansfield, Nottinghamshire has praised emergency water supplier, Water Direct for its recent investment in the local area and in greener technology.

Mr Bradley visited the new Mansfield depot to see the recent investment and was given a tour of the 1,231m² (13,250ft²) site and equipment. He was shown the state-of-the-art vehicles that have been designed by Water Direct, featuring unique capability and fuel-efficient technology to help reduce emissions.

Following recent growth, Water Direct has made a multi-million-pound investment in the area including a full refurbishment of the facilities, undertaken by local suppliers, and through doubling its fleet to increase support to its customers.

As part of the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility, the refurbishment included installation of roof-mounted solar panels, designed to generate an estimated 41,432 kWh per year, which self-generates electricity for use on site.

Water Direct is a nationwide water supplier, providing an alternative when water is unavailable or has been interrupted on site. Its customers include 75% of the UK’s water utility companies, providing water during a burst main or routine maintenance, and commercial businesses like construction companies, food producers, healthcare facilities and events.

This investment, and move into Mansfield, allows the business to expand its offering to the Midlands and the North of England, further supporting customers and better meeting their increasing demand.

Ben Bradley said, “It’s brilliant to see a positive investment in Mansfield and a company that has chosen Mansfield out of anywhere in the country to put that investment. Not just moving part of the business here but actually investing in green technology and environmentally friendly practices that are a massive priority for government so a great success story for Mansfield and for the company.”

Mike Rowell, Operations Manager at Water Direct said, “We chose Mansfield for its central location, great transport connections and good recruitment prospects. It’s great to know we have Ben’s support and look forward to settling into Mansfield.”
