British Ed-tech firm secures global expansion with prestigious Australian contract

AN innovative ed-tech firm is expanding globally after securing a prestigious contract with a leading Australian university.

London-based The Access Platform is now set to work with the University of Adelaide to help revolutionise the way it recruits new students.

The firm’s cutting edge communications platform has already been adopted by more than 20 top higher education institutions in the UK including Russell Group members Oxford University, King’s College London and the University of Sheffield.

Higher education expert Nik Higgins, a co-founder of The Access Platform, described the new link with the University of Adelaide as an exciting development.

“Australia has a dynamic higher education market and is incredibly open to international students from around the world,” he added.

“The ethos of the University of Adelaide is closely aligned with our own and we are delighted to welcome them on board.

“We are already operational across the UK, but forging a partnership with a university in Australia is an exciting step, particularly given that the country's higher education sector is world renowned.”

The Access Platform was launched in 2017 by Nik Higgins, George Olesen and Dominic O’Neill.

Its technology enables universities to harness peer-to-peer conversation and student-authored user generated content in a bid to fully engage prospective students.

Those considering a path into higher education are 72 per cent more likely to submit an application to a university after an interaction through the safe and secure two-way platform.

The University of Adelaide is one of the oldest higher education institutions in Australia and one of its most research intensive.

It has five campuses in South Australia and a sixth in Singapore. Alumni include five Nobel laureates and 110 Rhodes Scholars.

The university has already begun the roll out of The Access Platform’s technology to transform the way it engages with the upcoming generation of students, both domestic and international.

Said Nik: “Traditionally, universities have communicated with prospective students through printed materials and open days.

“But what these young people want is a more authentic experience with the universities they are considering and the chance to engage in a more meaningful way.

“Our technology allows them to get the information they are looking for from their peers via their preferred method of communication - one that they trust and understand.

“It also reaches out more effectively to international students, particularly those who are unable to attend open days.”
