XEYEX Software for Opticians, the practice management software company, have been listed as finalists in two categories of the Great British Entrepreneur awards, both 'Small Business of the Year' and 'Scale-up Entrepreneur of the Year' for Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Great British Entrepreneur awards celebrates, champions and supports enterprising minds in Great Britain, in partnership with Starling Bank.

This latest awards nomination comes on the back of being listed by Royal Bank of Scotland as one of their top 25 entrepreneurs last year. Speaking about being listed as GBEA finalists, CEO and Co-founder Grant Cardwell said "This is a true reflection on the team, more than it is us. I have to say, they work tirelessly all of the time but have been outstanding over the last four months. It's a great recognition for the product and service, and the business."

With many people facing redundancy, CEO Grant Cardwell, points out that XEYEX was founded on the back of redundancies with him and co-founder Tracy Scott leaving a FTSE100 company in the aftermath of the banking crisis. The business develops and supplies cloud based business automation software for retail opticians, and have grown a market share of the independent optical sector of 25% in Scotland, and 5% across the UK.

The award finalist announcement coincides with the business announcing 3 new jobs at its Bellshill based offices. They are looking for people with optical experience to join their exciting and fabulous team. XEYEX enjoyed 3 months of record growth during lockdown growing numbers to its subscription service by 8%, now bringing it to more than 240 sites across the UK.

The now roles represent 25% growth for the existing team of 12 based at their Bellshill office. Talking about the new roles which will be split across data migration, customer support and learning/development, co-founder Tracy Scott, said "We're fortunate to have a resilient business model, while turnover has been impacted to a degree, we're very excited with the growth we've seen, and more so to be announcing 3 new roles this month"
