Brand-new coding studio to offer specialist winter camps for Maidenhead children

Christmas has come early for video game-loving kids in Maidenhead as a brand-new coding dojo, Code Ninjas, is set to run a range of winter camps to transform children’s love for technology into an exciting learning adventure.

From 20th December, Code Ninjas Maidenhead’s coding camps will provide various festive programmes throughout the holidays for kids aged 5-14. Through hands-on education, children learn how to code by building robots and creating their own games that friends and family can play at home – all during the course of a week-long workshop at the Maidenhead-based coding hub.

Launched by local businessman and dad of two, Kapil Arora, the Maidenhead studio is one of 400 Code Ninjas locations across the US, Canada and, since 2019, the UK – demonstrating the growing popularity of kids coding. “I first recognised a need for a local coding provider in Maidenhead when I searched for good coding camps in the area to send my own children to, but we couldn’t find anything! So, I decided it would be a great idea to launch this Code Ninjas studio to provide the children of Maidenhead with a great local alternative to the mainstream after school activities. Initially, I was inspired by the success of Code Ninjas Langley, which is quite close by. The team are really helping their local tech community thrive – I want to replicate this in Maidenhead.”

“I’m a firm believer that coding is the future, so being able to give the children of Maidenhead the chance to learn the trade and help them develop all the crucial skills they’ll need for later life is important to me. With famous billionaires like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates all learning to code at an early age, it’s easy to see the benefits coding can have on a child.”

At Code Ninjas, things are done differently. The locations are called dojos, the teachers are called Code SenseisTM and the students are called ninjas! The ninjas work their way through a colour-coded programme to earn wristbands that symbolise their experience, just like in martial arts. ‘Belt up’ ceremonies are held for the ninjas who graduate up a level.

While Kapil is the owner of Code Ninjas Maidenhead, Studio Manager, Khizra Irfan, will run the day-to-day operations. “I can’t wait for our winter coding camps to get underway,” said Khizra. “The camps don’t just teach children how to code and build video games. They also offer our ninjas an immersive environment in which to explore and develop new skills, gain confidence and have fun with friends. It really is an unforgettable experience! The camps offer children the opportunity to explore Minecraft Modding, get into game building in Roblox, build a robot and so much more. These coding camps offer parents the opportunity to transform their children’s love of coding and technology into a fun learning experience.”

Ninjas will also have access to a crack team of Senseis to help them through the programmes. The team of Senseis are technical young people. Kapil went on to say, “The whole team here is really welcoming and friendly. It’s our mission to ensure that our ninjas have the best time possible when they’re with us. At Code Ninjas, we emphasise the importance of fun through learning. The camps offer our Senseis the chance to deliver the sessions in a relaxed environment, customised to a pace that suits each child. We can’t wait to get going.”
