High Wycombe children flock to town centre to celebrate opening of new coding studio

On Saturday 7th May, local children gathered at Bucks New University to celebrate the grand opening of a brand-new kids coding studio – Code Ninjas. Launched by long-term friends Robin Theakston and Charlie Gunn, the family-focussed business owners were proud to celebrate with families from across Buckinghamshire.

“It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces,” explained Robin. “We’re so appreciative to everyone that came along to wish us well, especially on such a lovely sunny day. We’ve come far since we opened our doors earlier this year, so the party on Saturday was a wonderful reason to bring everyone together and toast our success. With giveaways, coding challenges, STEM activities, goody bags and so much more going on throughout the day, it seemed like everyone had a really good time – and hopefully we’ll get to welcome back some of our new guests very soon.”

For Robin and Charlie, who are both dads themselves, the day was all about welcoming the local community to see what Code Ninjas is all about.

“At Code Ninjas, we want our Ninjas – that’s the name we give to our students - to develop a real passion for technology through our fun and collaborative curriculum. On Saturday we introduced our junior programme, which is specially created for children as young as five. With young children at home, I know only too well how increasingly interested in technology and gaming children have become. We think it’s really important to encourage and nurture this passion by letting our Ninjas explore practical activities, like building their own video games. Learning about computers at such a young age is crucial because it helps build the vital foundations for future success, but it also provides children with a safe, welcoming and exciting atmosphere to explore something they love,” explained Charlie.

Robin and Charlie are committed to delivering a quality and engaging curriculum to children from across the county. And so far, Ninjas aged 5-14 are enjoying the experience they were promised – which has not gone unnoticed by their parents!

Gemma, who took her son, Noa, along on the day, said, “The event was so well organised and the team were really friendly. The systems in place were so engaging so Noa was very quickly engrossed. Thank you for such a wonderful day!”

Kristen, another parent, thanked the Code Ninjas team for putting on such a variety of games and challenges. And budding Ninja, Logan, had a great time getting stuck in with the activities on offer, saying, “My favourite was the Lego Robot that solved a Rubik’s Cube – I also got to make a cool video game!”

“We’re here to guide the children through our exciting curriculum and, with the help of our team of instructors, called Code Senseis , truly put High Wycombe on the map for kids’ coding classes,” added Robin. “And watch this space, as we’ve just opened our second location in Aylesbury! Our sessions launched there this week and will be delivered from the Bucks New University Aylesbury campus – get in touch with us to find out more about our second location.”
