Local children flock to town centre to celebrate opening of new coding studio

During the half-term break, on Thursday 27th October, local children gathered at the historic Battle of Britain Bunker to celebrate the grand opening of kids coding studio Code Ninjas. Launched by long-term friends Taizun ‘Taz’ Hassanali and Haroon Latif, the family-focused business owners were proud to celebrate with their own children and with families from across Uxbridge.

“It was a real pleasure to welcome so many new and familiar faces on the day,” explained Taz. “I know parents are often on the hunt for fun things to do with their children during the half-term break – our grand opening party certainly delivered all that and more. As well as games, coding challenges and special Halloween-themed activities, guests were welcomed to enjoy cake and celebrate with us. We’ve come far since we opened our doors earlier this year, so the party on Thursday was a wonderful reason to bring everyone together and toast our success.”

For Taz, Haroon, Studio Manager Mohammed, Educational Consultant Jamila and the rest of the team, the day was about welcoming the local community to see what Code Ninjas has to offer for gaming-loving kids living locally.

“At Code Ninjas, we want our Ninjas – the name we give to our students – to develop a passion for technology through our fun and collaborative curriculum. We’re both dads ourselves, so we know only too well how increasingly interested in technology and gaming children have become. Taz and I truly believe that technological education is the future, which is why we aim to teach children aged 5-14 to think and solve STEM problems using coding, engineering and robotics. Learning about computers at such a young age is essential for both boys and girls because it helps build the vital foundations for future success. But most importantly, it also provides children with a safe, welcoming and exciting atmosphere to explore something they love,” explained Haroon.

The team is passionate about providing an inclusive and supportive space, something that didn’t go unnoticed by kids at the grand opening. Ruqaiyah, 11, who got stuck into all the activities on offer at the event, said, “I wasn’t sure about Code Ninjas at first, but I went along with my younger sibling, and I really enjoyed the activities that were set up and there were so many girls! There was something to do for everyone!”

And for the parents of budding coders at the event, they saw first-hand how coding helps develop logical thinking, problem-solving and confidence in children.

One parent who took their sons to the event said, “I took my kids to the grand opening to see what it was all about, and now I would definitely consider signing them up for sessions. The Senseis were engaging, and my kids had so much fun.” For Munira, another parent at the event, it was the Uxbridge team that made the event so special, saying, “Mohammed and the Senseis were so warm and welcoming – my son loved his taster session. I will certainly be sending him back for more!”

“We’re here to guide children through our exciting curriculum and, with the help of our team of instructors, called Code Senseis , truly puts Uxbridge on the map for kids’ coding classes,” said Taz. “We’re looking forward to seeing out the end of a fantastic year with our current and new Ninjas – we already have big plans for the festive period!”
