It's happening again! - The Surveyors Cup, 280 Surveyors competing in Romford on June 21st
Essex based Demolition and Enabling Contractor the Downwell Group are bringing 280 Surveyors together from the construction industry for 'The Surveyors Cup 2019'. This will be the fifth year of the event which has seen it grow from 12 to 40 teams.
''It is an excellent way of reaching potential new clients as well as building on existing relationships" says Business Development Manager Alan Knight.

Every year Downwell have tried to improve on the previous year. Last year saw the introduction of Romford based Ex-West Ham United Captain and Talk Sport Commentator Alvin Martin as the MC. To keep the players going Sports Physio company McKagans provided on site treatments of minor injuries. The event was capped off by a stunning BBQ provided by Romford company Conti Catering.
The event was played at Play Football Romford for the first time after moving it from the Powerleague Hainault.
The event also raised over £2000.00 for the 'Free Kicks Foundation' a Peterborough based Charity who provide Football experiences to terminally ill or disadvantaged children.
This year some of the teams that will be taking part are: Kier London, Calfordseaden, Be First, Paragon Building Consultancy, Edward Cooper Young, Inland Homes, Engie, Ingeleton Wood, Gardiner Theobald, Stace, Martin Arnold, Potter Raper Partnership, Volker Fitzpatrick, Croudace, and Crest Nicholson.
This year the event is raising money for Romford based charity 'The Jermain Defoe Foundation'. Downwell are hoping to have a Jermain Defoe match worn shirt from one of the old firm derbies up for auction to raise additional money for the charity.
Alvin Martin who incidentally also comes from Romford will be once again acting as MC, as well as McKagans and Conti Catering acting as the physios and catering providers.

The tournament is in a group stage format with the top teams progressing to the knock out stages to see who will lift the Surveyors Cup trophy. The next16 teams will go into a plate competition knockout tournament. Teams finishing in the bottom placings are allowed to play each other and avoid being awarded the wooden spoon.
A penalty shoot-out competition has also been added to run alongside the tournament. Grays Athletic are providing a goalkeeper to go in between the sticks for this. It will be a sudden death format with the last two qualifying their teams for a final.
As usual the tournament looks to be a very competitive event with the standard of players taking part very high.
