EIS Association Brings Together key Partners to Drive Business Growth in the Newcastle Region

The Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA) is bringing together key partners at an event to support start-ups in the North East. The “Ready, Steady, Grow!” event will be held at Newcastle University tomorrow, Tuesday 17th October.

The free-to-attend event will be the 8th in the “Ready, Steady, Grow!” series of 10 events hosted by the EISA to help founders, investors, and advisers better understand and engage with the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS). These are government-led initiatives designed to foster and stimulate investment in early-stage start-ups. Since their inception, the EIS and its seed sister the SEIS have resulted in £30 billion of investment for 53,000 start-ups across the UK.

Christiana Stewart-Lockhart, Director General of the EISA, commented “There are some really exciting things happening in Newcastle and we are delighted to be partnering with the University to bring together entrepreneurs, advisers and investors. Having access to funding information is critical for the growth and expansion of start-ups, which is why we’re providing a platform for information about the SEIS and EIS while also offering a fantastic opportunity for networking.”

Dedicated to accelerating the entrepreneurial successes in the area, the “Ready, Steady, Grow!” event in Newcastle will be chaired by Rick McCordall, Head of Company Creation, Newcastle University, drawing on advice from Shaun Fooy from the British Business Bank, Neil Norman from CT Accountant Advisors, and Paul Christian from Ward Hadaway.

The founder of Newcastle University spin-out synthetic DNA success story NunaBio, Andrew Pike, will take attendees through the journey of growing a successful business that benefited from EIS investment.

Additionally, a panel session with representatives from Ward Hadaway, Newcastle University, Par Equity, Knocu Ventures and Lifted Ventures will be chaired by Christiana Stewart-Lockhart, EISA Director General.

The second part of the event will be a networking reception, where participants have the opportunity to connect with experienced investors, industry experts and entrepreneurs, opening opportunities for new investment channels and promoting invaluable business development connections.

EISA invites all entrepreneurs looking to start a business or access investment; wealth managers seeking knowledge and expertise; investors looking to learn more about the S/EIS; and professional advisors looking to assist SMEs in their development and growth.
