As Government lifts travel ban and relaxes quarantine restrictions, long standing travel agent, Letgo2, says ‘Book now to avoid disappointment’

Up-market travel firm, Letsgo2, is advising anyone looking to fly away to the sun now that the Government looks to be relaxing restrictions on overseas travel, not to delay in booking. Demand for holidays is likely to outstrip the availability of flights and hotels warns Letsgo2 as they announce that they are once again fully open to take bookings.

Whilst the country has been in lockdown, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has been maintaining its advice that Britons should not be travelling abroad except for essential purposes. This has effectively closed the borders to holiday makers and has also resulted in holiday insurance being unavailable.

The relaxation now forecast to be announced tomorrow by the Government, and the softening of the quarantine restrictions on entering the UK, together with overseas holiday destinations lifting their restrictions, now opens up the prospect of holidays.

But Managing Director of Letsgo2, Chris Ward, warns that many will be disappointed. “Whilst restrictions have been softened,“ he says, “they have not been removed fully and target location hotels, will be required to maintain controls and specifically social distancing protocols. This will mean that hotels will be working to just 50% occupancy, in effect reducing by half the number of rooms available.”

The severe problems faced by the airlines struggling to survive, will also have a major impact says Chris Ward. “Added to the reduced number of available rooms, the number of flights will be materially down on previous years too, and some may also be restricting the number of usable seats on flights as they respect the distancing rules.”

Letsgo2 focuses on luxury holidays, and they are forecasting that the demand for their exclusive locations, and in particular, private villa rentals will be high as holiday makers themselves manage their own self distancing, preferring to relax in private surroundings without the need for face masks and other personal protection equipment.
