There are just a few shopping days left until Christmas, but all is not lost if you’ve left it to the last minute.

A bottle of Marshall and Brown Dark rum, as seen on TV, is the perfect addition to a loved one’s drinks cabinet – while simultaneously transporting them to warmer times and the tropical island of Jamaica.

Award-winning purveyors of fine Jamaican fayre, Marshall & Brown’s Dark rum – a complex combination of molasses, tonka bean, caramel, and exotic fruits – had a starring role on a recent episode of Channel 4’s The Sunday Brunch.

Hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer were joined by Ian Burrell – the leading voice on rum – who whipped up a Chicago Fizz, using Marshall & Brown’s Dark rum, to mark Repeal Day aka when prohibition ended in the United States.

World-renowned rum expert, Burrell, described Marshall & Brown’s Dark rum as a “Jamaican rum with a bit of spice that gives it a Christmas vibe.”

The premium rum, which comes in a clear bottle that allows the liquid to shine through, was well received by guests including Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden; singer Baby Queen; TV presenter and personality Carol Vorderman; Doctor Who’s Ruth Madeley; and actor Richard Armitage on the three-hour food show that has dominated Channel 4’s weekend schedule for 12 years.

Marshall and Brown founder, Dr Carlton Brown, said: “The rapturous reception from the hosts and guests on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch was fantastic although I’m not surprised – Marshall and Brown’s dark rum offers rich complexity to cocktails.

“Of course, our dark rum isn’t just excellent in cocktails: it’s also superb on the rocks, or in a rum and coke. And our beautiful bottle design will ensure Marshall and Brown's Dark rum stands out on the shelf over the festive season.”

Upscale brand, Marshall and Brown, has three other rums – a Spiced rum, a Coconut rum, and a Mocha rum – in its portfolio, to help transport discerning drinkers straight to the Caribbean.

Marshall & Brown’s Mocha rum, which is slightly coloured by the time it has spent ageing in the barrel, blends the finest coffee with premium-grade cocoa nibs.

Elsewhere their artisan Spice rum mixes caramel, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, and undertones of rich, warming ginger.

Meanwhile, the Coconut rum has a creamy coconut taste with vanilla notes – ensuring that sun-kissed island feeling is only a sip away.

Each bottle is priced at £35 and can be purchased via Marshall and Brown’s website, as well as Master of Malt, and selected artisan independent stores.

Since Marshall and Brown’s inception in 2019, the high-end brand’s collection has expanded to include not only four expressions of rum but premium artisan Blue Mountain Coffee, fine teas, truffles, chutneys, Jerk sauces and seasonings, spa products, and more.

About Marshall and Brown London

The inspiration behind Marshall and Brown came from Dr Carlton Brown’s mother, who is 97, and his mother-in-law. The company is named after these two wonderful matriarchs – Olive Brown and Eugenia Marshall – who were both born on the beautiful island of Jamaica. They were both amazing cooks and on Sundays, one of their family traditions was to have a dish that had been marinated or seasoned with Jerk seasoning.
