Launch of Messy Saturdays
The popular Play and Learn Café has just announced that they will start running ‘Messy Saturday’ events from the beginning of the New Year. Based on their Messy Monday events, these weekend group sessions will let children and adults get creative through messy play, and enjoy nursery rhymes, songs and bubbles.
The Play and Learn Café ran a successful trial of their Messy Saturday event in November, which saw twenty children aged between six months and three years enjoy messy fun with their parents and carers, especially dads and mums, who are normally unable to attend due to work commitments during the week.
Directors Gail Johnson and Paula O'Connor said: “We are so excited about the new Messy Saturday sessions in 2019. In addition to many new families, we saw the return of many 'old' faces at our very successful trial session in November, including children who had moved on to nursery, mums who had returned to work following maternity leave, and many dads who rarely get the opportunity to play with their children at weekly play sessions.
"Children’s development really comes from giving them the opportunity to explore through play, and messy play, among so many other areas of development, enhances their creativity.”
The Play and Learn Café has become one of the most popular family destinations in the region thanks to events such as this and the incredible enthusiasm of Gail and Paula, both highly qualified and experienced early years professionals.
Anyone wishing to attend one of the upcoming Messy Saturday events should make sure they book in advance or arrive in good time to secure their spot, and wear comfy clothes they don’t mind getting messy in. Given the success of the Messy Monday events and the November trial run, it looks certain that 2019’s Messy Saturdays will prove incredibly popular.
