Nottingham cleaning expert raises the bar of local home services with new business venture

This month, Nottingham based cleaning expert, John Burrows, has embarked on his new business venture by launching professional home cleaning business, Poppies, to provide a high-quality, trusted service to the city’s local communities. Hoping to become a “root” of the community, trusted by clients and cleaning staff alike, John’s business is a vital step in improving the overall quality of local home services.

John, 58, has been a key figure in providing exceptional cleaning services to the city’s homes, supermarkets, schools, hospitals, bus shelters and more since 1998. Now, endeavouring to restore the community’s trust in home service providers, he has seized the opportunity to take the lead himself after stepping away from his previous role. John will be looking to make an impact in the area, recruiting local staff over the coming months and becoming the go-to cleaning business that employees and clients can trust.

“With so many cleaning providers today offering a sub-par experience, people have become accustomed to expecting poor service,” explained John. “It has damaged the reputation of honest, trustworthy cleaners and cleaning businesses - I hope to instil a culture of quality and reliability in the local home services industry with the launch of Poppies Nottingham. With my experience, values and aspirations, we can deliver a service people need and deserve.

“It’s vital that I also ensure my staff are looked after and suitably rewarded for their efforts. Having worked in the industry for over 20 years, I’ve seen how disillusioned cleaners can become when their employment and career prospects aren’t recognised. Poppies aims to address this by offering devoted professionals real career paths and contracts of employment from day one.”

Prior to becoming a new franchise owner, John had spent 20 years working for various cleaning companies in the area until becoming an archiving clerk with a local solicitor. But after deciding to return to what he knows best, he devoted the time to find the industry leading opportunity that would enable him to fulfil his dream. And with its ethical ethos and high standards, coupled with being an established and professional brand, John knew Poppies was right for Nottingham’s communities to maximise his bespoke local service offering.

“I really believe in the opportunity that Poppies is giving to customers in the area. We hope to stand out and provide a first-class service to people that deserve a great service provider. In the next three years, I’d like to have up to thirty staff, enabling us to serve a huge portion of people in the community. It’s vital that we find talented, passionate people who are seeking real opportunities to progress in the industry - Poppies is an environment where professionals finally have a career path and feel respected,” added John.

Poppies cleaning service covers the city centre, West Bridgford, Colwick, Gamston, Bakersfield, Lambley, Gedling, Carlton, Netherfield, Hyson Green and the surrounding areas. Poppies Nottingham is part of a national network of 25 businesses building their own local service and delivering high-quality cleaning to over 6,000 homes on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
