Warwickshire Samaritans volunteer launches cleaning business to become “root” of the community

Local entrepreneur, Kuldeep Mahi, has always been driven by supporting his community. A listening volunteer for the Samaritans, Kuldeep understands more than most the importance of local service providers doing their bit to support families and individuals under pressure. Now, he has embarked on his new business venture by launching professional home cleaning business, Poppies, to provide a high-quality, trusted service to Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.

The demand for professional cleaners is growing exponentially, with 3.2 million professional cleaners now operating within the residential cleaning sector alone*. With an office based in Stratford, Kuldeep aims to become a “root” of the community and provide exciting employment opportunities to local cleaners. Already welcoming cleaners into the team, the service will look to restore customer confidence over the coming year, aiming to build a team of over 35 exceptional, trustworthy staff to provide regular or one-off cleans.

“I’m delighted to be bringing Poppies to Warwickshire and the surrounding communities – I feel like a kid at Christmas!” said Kuldeep. “I get a real sense of reward in helping busy people and families – especially the retired generation who we also hope to reach, as they’re so often neglected. I wanted to bring a service with real heart to the area while also addressing the bad reputation surrounding cleaning businesses, and I hope Poppies becomes synonymous with high-quality, attentive housekeeping. We don’t just clean family homes; we take the pressure completely off those in need.”

Along with launching Poppies, Kuldeep will continue to offer his service and expertise to the community as a volunteer for the Samaritans, which he has now been a part of for four years. And with his own marketing business that has previously supported local businesses in the area, he has found the perfect opportunity to tap into the community with Poppies and give back to more families, individuals and businesses who need his support.

With its ethical ethos and high standards, coupled with being an established and professional brand, Kuldeep knew Poppies was right for him as he can tap into the network for advice, guidance and support to maximise his bespoke local service offering.

“It’s become all too common for housekeepers and cleaners to be disrespected and exploited. But Poppies is reforming the cleaning sector - we’re changing the tide simply by giving our cleaners contracts and making them real, protected employees. This naturally has a knock-on effect of giving clients a service unlike any other provider. Poppies employs a real duty of care, and I truly want to see local professionals succeed as much as I want to see smiles on happy customers’ faces,” added Kuldeep.

Based in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Poppies also covers Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa, Sherborne, Barford, Loxley, Walton, Lighthorne Heath, Gaydon, Kineton, Butlers Marston,

Radway and the surrounding areas. Poppies Warwickshire is part of a national network of 24 franchisees building their own local business, creating over 500 jobs and delivering high-quality cleaning to over 6,000 homes on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis in line with clients’ individual needs.
