Limited Edition ‘OlympiGIN’ Gold Gin Launched

Stirling, Scotland

July 22nd 2021

Stirling Distillery today announced the launch of a limited edition gold gin named OlympiGIN in celebration of the Tokyo Olympics which kicks off tomorrow.

This specially created gold-flaked gin - made from Stirlingshire nettles and Japanese yuzu - are expertly blended to create a winning combination spirit. The gin will be limited to 500 bottles and sent to British and Northern Irish Olympic and Paralympic gold medal winners from the Games. But gin fans be warned, the more medals won, the less bottles there will be for purchase!

Created in their historic distillery, sat in the shadow of Stirling Castle, this elegant gin is the creation of new head distiller Lisa Matthews and the eye catching bottle was designed by Scottish graphic designer Megan Raine and is set to become a collector’s item. A percentage of the profits from the sale will be donated to sports charity Sported. They are a UK wide charity promoting fairness and equity for young people through grassroot sport and physical activity.

The family run business has had great success with their virtual drink experiences over the past year with online sales increasing by 250%. When COVID hit in March 2020, their distillery tour, shop and gin school were all temporarily closed so the business had to rethink its approach and fast. Founders June and Cameron McCann decided to create a virtual drinks package, a virtual distillery tour and offer live Zoom tastings for those who wanted a way of connecting with friends, family or colleagues.

Having already launched three new products over the past year - Stirling Pink Gin, their Sons of Scotland whisky range and the popular Tropical Triumph liqueur - the distillery are hoping this limited edition gold gin will be the drink of choice for gin enthusiasts when toasting the achievements of Olympic athletes.

About Stirling Distillery

Stirling Distillery We wanted to bring something unique to the ever growing world of Scottish Gin. In our recipe we feel we have achieved that goal. The result is a spirit with a big nose and very satisfying profile, whether neat or with a premium tonic of your choice. Our core gin is infused with hand picked Stirlingshire nettles, basil, lemon and orange peel, juniper and angelica root. This forms the base to our other products, all distilled at Stirling Distillery. As a result, our nearly navy strength Battle Strength Gin packs a mighty punch, while the Folklore Collection uses local fruits and herbs to create our range of gin liqueurs. Our entire range is inspired by the mythologies and history surrounding Stirlingshire and its beautiful castle. In 2019 we opened our doors at the foot of Stirling Castle. We are the first gin distillery in the beautiful city of Stirling and are proud to use local ingredients to create our outstanding Scottish spirits.
