Employee wellbeing recognised again for carer-centric franchise Visiting Angels

As the carer-centric in-home care franchise, Visiting Angels, continues celebrating a period of significant success, the brand’s latest award shortlisting has further affirmed proof of concept with growth and development being accelerated across the high-flying franchise network. Recently named a finalist in Sheffield Business Awards’ Outstanding Contribution to Employee Health and Wellbeing category, Visiting Angels has been credited for redefining the roles and improving the lives of carers in the city since launching in 2017.

Currently celebrating its sixth year of delivering a new standard of person-centred care, Visiting Angels has been recognised for prioritising development through successful initiatives and projects supporting carers’ physical, mental and financial health. Most recently, this has included hosting the third annual Carefest, a free local music festival for those working on the frontline, introducing e-bikes as an alternative form of transport for carers feeling the impact of the cost-of-living crisis and the ongoing development of their mental health and wellbeing programme, AngelCare. It is thanks to this unwavering and unmatched commitment to improving working conditions within the sector that Visiting Angels now boasts a staff turnover rate of just 12% - nearly six times lower than the industry’s all-time high average of 64%1.

Visiting Angels’ Managing Director, Dan Archer, is delighted be named a finalist as the in-home care franchise continues to improve the UK-wide social care sector through finding ways of boosting carer productivity, retention and job satisfaction.

“On the back of being shortlisted for this year’s British Franchise Association HSBC Leadership & Culture Award, it’s fantastic for Visiting Angels to receive such recognition from the city where we first launched in the UK,” said Dan. “Back in 2017, we knew it was the beginning of an incredible journey for the brand and for the British care industry. It’s amazing to have been given so many reasons to celebrate recently thanks to the successful development and delivery of our carer-centric ethos on an ever-growing national scale. Our focus has always been about positively reforming the care sector by creating environments where passionate and dedicated carers can be proud to deliver exceptional care to those in need. This shortlisting reinforces that message which has only been made possible by the aligned vision and growth of Visiting Angels teams all over the country.”

Judged against over 170 applications from organisations across Sheffield, the competition faced to become a finalist this year was one of the largest to date. This latest accolade has once again proven the viability of the carer-centric ethos in communities within which Visiting Angels operates, thanks to the brand’s unwavering dedication to prioritising the wellbeing of its carers through trailblazing initiatives.

“We see this award shortlisting as motivation to continue on our steep upwards trajectory. It’s vital that, as an in-home care franchise, we recruit and nurture the right calibre of people to deliver Visiting Angels’ mission – whether that be in Sheffield or the rest of the UK. With this recognition, amongst so many other awards this year, it’s brilliant to know our people truly understand what it takes to be a part of the Visiting Angels family. As we near the milestone of launching our 50th office, we see this as a significant step forward in embedding carer-centricity into the makeup of the UK’s entire care sector,” added Dan.

About Visiting Angels

In 2017, the Visiting Angels brand came to the UK under the expert leadership of Dan Archer. A franchise veteran and passionate ambassador for quality care at home, Dan launched the first UK office in October 2017. In less than 12 months, Visiting Angels Sheffield proved to be one of our most successful new franchises. Ever. Dan and his team were awarded ‘Best International Office’ at our 2018 Annual Conference in recognition of their exceptional performance and commitment to the Visiting Angels UK mission. Most care businesses, and in turn, most care franchises, will tell you that they put their clients first. And whilst we don’t disagree with the sentiment, we take a slightly different view on how to achieve it. We believe that to truly be successful in this pursuit, and to change the future of social care in the UK, we must actually put our carers at the heart of the business. For without them, there is no business. We describe this approach as "carer-centric".
