Family values: local care company celebrates amazing expansion

Launched in December 2022, Visiting Angels has been committed to providing high-quality in-home care to the people of Oldham and the surrounding areas. Run by Roxie Taj, who has spent most of her career volunteering to support her local community, Visiting Angels is making waves in the industry, putting carers at the heart of the business who, in turn, delivers excellent care.

Since their launch eight months ago, Visiting Angels have seen massive growth, with a network of 12 dedicated carers providing 100 hours of high-quality care every week. Now, the team at Visiting Angels is joined by local businessman and care expert Badar Usmani as co-Managing Director. With 15 years of experience in the care industry, Badar brings a valuable insight, having recently left a large care business to partner with Roxie.

“As someone who has always been passionate about the quality of care provision in the local area, I knew something needed to be done to ensure a consistent, reliable level of care,” said Badar. “Something which has always bothered me about other care providers is that carer givers, these selfless key workers, are so often not rewarded or even paid adequately for their work. The way Visiting Angels treat their carers showed me that they genuinely value the hard work these people do. Their dedication to high-quality in-home care completely mirrors my passion for service delivery, and their carer-centric model really stands out in the industry.

“When I saw what Visiting Angels were doing, and their genuine commitment to supporting their staff, I couldn’t believe how closely they aligned with my own values and beliefs within the care sector. I’m incredibly proud of the positive impact Roxie has had on every vulnerable person in our area, and I’m committed to continuing that high level of service in the years to come.”

Visiting Angels’ ‘carer-centric’ approach sets them apart from other companies in the in-home care sector. Through both financial rewards and opportunities for career development, Roxie and Badar make their Visiting Angels team feel the value and respect that they deserve. Making no compromise in providing consistently exceptional services to the community, the duo’s team of Visiting Angels is already delivering over 100 hours of care per week, less than one year after launching. And after reaching the goal of recruiting 12 carers in the first eight months of operations, they are delighted to be opening further employment opportunities to carers seeking a role that truly values them and pays fairly.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Badar to the team,” said Roxie, founding Managing Director of Visiting Angels in East Manchester. “His experience in the care industry is invaluable - he shares every single one of our values and our goals regarding the provision of care in our area. When I launched Visiting Angels, I was determined to raise the standards of in-home care for those who need it, after having my own personal difficult experiences of the care system raising my daughter with Downs Syndrome. I feel really proud of where we are now and the impact that we’re having after only eight months of operating. I can’t wait to see where our next step with Badar on board takes us.”

Visiting Angels is there for families who have loved ones needing professional support in the comfort of their own homes. For more information, please visit the Visiting Angels website.

About Visiting Angels

In 2017, the Visiting Angels brand came to the UK under the expert leadership of Dan Archer. A franchise veteran and passionate ambassador for quality care at home, Dan launched the first UK office in October 2017. In less than 12 months, Visiting Angels Sheffield proved to be one of our most successful new franchises. Ever. Dan and his team were awarded ‘Best International Office’ at our 2018 Annual Conference in recognition of their exceptional performance and commitment to the Visiting Angels UK mission. Most care businesses, and in turn, most care franchises, will tell you that they put their clients first. And whilst we don’t disagree with the sentiment, we take a slightly different view on how to achieve it. We believe that to truly be successful in this pursuit, and to change the future of social care in the UK, we must actually put our carers at the heart of the business. For without them, there is no business. We describe this approach as "carer-centric".
