Walton's Tree Services Marks World Habitat Day
Amid ongoing climate change protests, the UK marked World Habitat Day on October 7th, with many small businesses taking part. One company helping to implement change on a local level is Walton's Tree Services, who have been encouraging people in Essex and Sussex to look after their gardens in order to support the wildlife which calls them home.
Owner Alexander Walton says: “World Habitat Day is a good opportunity to take a step back and look at what we’re doing to support the environment on a smaller scale. Our gardens can be home to all sorts of species, from larger mammals such as badgers and foxes right down to the insects which pollinate our plants. They are all interdependent, and many people are stunned by the biodiversity they can find in their back yard.
“Taking good care of your garden can support wildlife and give various species the habitat they need to thrive. Simple jobs such as trimming hedges, keeping trees pruned, removing deadwood and keeping ponds clear of algae are all important, providing they don’t cause too much disturbance. We know not everyone can keep on top of their garden jobs. We provide a full range of tree services which not only keep our customers’ outdoor spaces looking good, but ensure the habitats of our native species are protected.”

World Habitat Day took place on October 7th. The annual event is organised by the United Nations, providing an opportunity to reflect on the state of our towns and cities, as well as the human impact on the natural world.
