Free accommodation for NHS workers and cancer patients
Bethnal&Bec Luxury Rural Retreats is offering free stays as a gift to NHS workers and cancer patients.
They are currently working alongside Something to Look Forward To and #Gift4Good.
As a charity, Something to Look Forward To supported Vicky Saynor and her family when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019.
Francesca Abery said, “As cancer surgery and treatment affects families physically, emotionally and financially, we provided Vicky and her family with complementary therapy, a restaurant voucher, artwork, children’s cooking class and a short break all to give them ‘something to look forward to.’”
These gifts were kindly donated by various individuals and businesses.
During her recovery, Vicky decided to give back by allowing cancer treatments to stay in Bethnal&Bec free of charge.
Bethnal&Bec have recently changed the way they welcome influencers to the retreat, which they had previously done for marketing purposes. Since Vicky’s cancer diagnosis, however, they hope to use their social media presence for the greater good.
Thanks to the #Gift4Good campaign, brands are encouraged to donate products and services to cancer patients, rather than to influencers. It also tries to persuade influencers to lead this change themselves by only accepting a gift if a secondary donation is made to charities.
Bethnal&Bec is no longer hosting influencers in return for their mentions on social media. Instead, if influencers are prepared to pay the full charge and still promote the retreat, for example using hashtags such as #Gift4Good, #nhsheroes, #cancer, #freestays, #somethingtolookforward to, they will gift an equal stay to a cancer patient.
This is a decision that Something to Look Forward To completely support, believing that brands, influencers, celebrities and business owners should work together to provide unwell people with simple luxuries.
Francesca Abery continues, “we are honoured to have the support with this initiative from Bethnal&Bec with and the very special family behind it.”
