Luxury Self-catering accommodation gifts nights to Key Workers

Bethnal&Bec Luxury Rural Retreats in Hertfordshire have decided to thank Key Workers by 'gifting' nights at hugely discounted rates to any nights they are unable to fill. The first night gifted is October 12th 2020, and was advertised vis their social media page on Instagram (12.1k followers). After the Breast Cancer diagnosis of the co-owner Vicky Saynor in late 2018, the couple decided to gift their first night to an NHS worker.

They invited NHS workers to apply for the night on Instagram with a closing date of Monday 5th October. The draw took place today, and the winner announced on Instagram. In the time between offering the night at 50% discount to today, 2 anonymous donors have come forward to cover the £110, and others have come forward to donate baked goods for the winner plus a bespoke piece of art.

Owners Chris & Vicky Saynor say

' We're absolutely huge believers in giving back to the incredible care we received during our cancer treatment last year, and of course this year to all the amazing people that continued working when so many were shielding and having to stay home'. We want to gift nights away to other Key workers such as: Social Workers; firefighters; police; supermarket workers; care workers . This is our little way of saying Thank You! We also invite other businesses to connect with us to expand on the offering with free restaurant meals, gifts etc for these incredible people that looked after all of us'

The first 'winner' is a District Nurse from St Albans: 'I've been a nurse for 7 years, 6 years in the community and went on to study my district nurse practitioner and prescribing degree. I worked at The Nightingale for the time it was open, and I've just recently started with community rapid response team trying to keep acutely unwell patients out of hospital. I can't believe this! I never win anything... I'm in tears!!
