D&O Motors urging drivers to consider transport choices ahead of World Environment Day
King’s Lynn-based D&O Motor Services is encouraging drivers to think about their transport choices ahead of World Environment Day on June 5.
The day brings issues about transport choices that protect the environment to the forefront, and it comes hot on the heels of the recent climate change protests from Extinction Rebellion and other groups.
“We hope people will use the day to think about how they get around, especially with local trips,” said Mike Docherty, who owns the company with Adam Overland.
“Clearly some parts of Norfolk are very rural, and buses not always available, but people should think about how they get from A to B and the impact on the environment, and whether they really need to get the car out.”
Mike and Adam are also asking people to think carefully before rushing into buying an electric vehicle, given the limited range on some of these models. This advice follows a comprehensive study into UK consumers which found that only one in four would think about buying completely electric cars during the next five years.
“Changing your vehicle when necessary, and getting a fuel-efficient, perhaps smaller model and making sure it runs smoothly at all times will also help the environment,” added Adam Overland.
D&O Motors offers a range of services to help local motorists, including affordably priced MOTs, servicing and brake fluid changes, while brakes can be safety-checked for free.
World Environment Day is a UN initiative which has been held yearly since 1974.
