Walthamstow DJ Dominic Mandrell announces support for Greg Wilson

E17 DJ Dominic Mandrell has announced he will be supporting Greg Wilson at an upcoming event at Leytonstone Ballroom in London.

Tomorrow, October 25th, Greg Wilson, renowned Liverpool-based DJ, will be taking the stage at Leytonstone Ballroom and delivering a much-anticipated set.

Wilson began his career in the early seventies and became a key player in defining UK club culture as well as becoming a name synonymous with the 80s electro scene in Manchester and the current disco / re-edit movement.

His career spans nearly four decades taking in some of the most iconic venues from Wigan Pier to the Hacienda, Legends to We Love Space and is still lighting up dancefloors throughout the year in every corner of the world from Brazil to Australia.

After producing two critically acclaimed albums with Paul ‘Kermit’ Leveridge and Rutheless Rap assassins in the early nineties, (Kermit subsequently went on to form Black Grape with Sean Ryder) Wilson returned to DJing and began to connect a younger generation with his music.

A heavyweight in the UK’s club culture heritage, Wilson has won numerous awards and accolades which includes Rolling Stone magazine’s 25 greatest internet DJ mixes of all time and was nominated by DJ Magazine for outstanding contribution, and one of their top twenty remixers of all-time.

Tomorrow Wilson is set to bring his unique selection of disco re-edits to London at the Leytonstone Ballroom event. His successful multi-media label Super Weird Substance, which hosts events known as ‘Super Weird Happenings’, has a large extended creative family which includes the support DJs for the night Dominic Mandrell and Pete Fowler. Both Dom and Pete have worked independently on creative projects with Greg before, and joining them on the decks is singer Citizen Helene.

Dom Mandrell wears many creative hats including as a visual artist, illustrator and event producer and is known as a bit of a local legend in E17 for his founding of the popular dance tent at the Walthamstow Garden Party and for his other events under the Soul Picnic banner.

Prior to the event Empire House Family are hosting a 2-hour dance class and tickets for the class will include entry into the club afterwards.

About Dominic Mandrell Ltd

I am a graphic designer and illustrator who has worked in and around the live music, nightlife and festival industry for many years. The boundaries between producing artwork for other promoters as well as marketing their gigs and festivals and producing, conceiving and DJing at my own events blur all the time. I made a realisation that many of the skills I have developed in PR and marketing are transferable to restaurants/bars and the hospitality sector - they are essentially a branch of the entertainment industry after all. My recent contract with award winning Yum Yum thai Restaurant in Walthamstow looking after their social media and marketing needs confirmed this. So I am in the process of starting a new chapter with Tantalize media and creating an agency specialising in looking after the needs of this sector.
