Announcing DWP Digital's new CDIO, Richard Corbridge

Richard Corbridge appointed new DWP Chief Digital and Information Officer

Richard (Rich) Corbridge joins DWP Digital on 11 April and will take over from Simon McKinnon as DWP’s Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO).

Rich’s skills, experience, and track record of leading teams in delivering innovation and transformation will keep DWP Digital moving forward on their digital journey.

Rich has extensive experience in leading major digital transformation projects in retail and the public sector. He has held several senior information and digital technology positions, including roles at Boots UK and No.7 Beauty Company, Leeds NHS Trust, eHealth Ireland, and the NHS Information Centre.  

Rich will lead the team of digital specialists in DWP Digital, who build and maintain digital services that enable millions of people across the UK access the help, advice and support they need. 

DWP Permanent Secretary Peter Schofield CB said: 

“I am delighted to appoint Rich Corbridge as our new Chief Digital and Information Officer.

“Rich has extensive experience in leading major digital transformation projects in retail and the public sector. He has held several senior information and digital technology positions, including roles at Boots, Leeds NHS Trust, eHealth Ireland, and the National Institute for Health Research.

“I want to thank Simon McKinnon for his valuable contribution to this role and the Department and wish him well in his retirement.”

DWP New CDIO Rich Corbridge said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining DWP, an amazing organisation that is on an exciting digital journey. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of people in my first few weeks and finding out more about this amazing machine.

“The next few years will bring fresh digital challenges and innovative developments and I relish the chance to be at the DWP Digital helm.”

DWP Digital are thankful to Simon McKinnon for his leadership over the last four years. Simon led the department through a complex digital transformation, overseeing the switch from outsourcing IT contracts to moving these in-house. 

Rich, who was named a Wired Magazine Change Maker for 2023, will be tasked with shaping DWP’s digitalisation strategy, ensuring that the right processes, and technologies are designed, used, and integrated, building sustainable digital capability across the Department.
