Getting personal with the baby market

9th January 2020 – British-American Rebecca Davies, founder of Invite Press, is seeing a real surge in her baby stationery products since setting up her high-end personalised stationery business in the summer of 2019.

Rebecca has found that the UK audience is much more interested in sending personalised thank you cards rather than the traditional birth announcements, which are popular in America. Given the prevalence of social media, we are seeing more instant birth “announcements” on Facebook and Instagram giving the impression that sending actual cards are slowly becoming redundant. Well this is definitely not the case, especially when new parents are thanking friends and family for a gift they received for their new arrival. An extra special touch is by sending a note with a photo of their bundle of joy announcing their baby in a much more personal way.

With the stationery market predicted to be worth £2.1billion by 2021, Rebecca feels she has everything to play for. Increased product choice of premium stationery and availability of extra services such as personalisation mean shoppers are increasingly opting for stationery products as a professional way to communicate their personal milestones.

Rebecca’s intention when she started the business was to bring back the excitement of receiving something personal and beautiful in the post as we live in a world where the digital age dominates. Therefore, to achieve this, she has worked with a team of graphic designers, illustrators and artists to design her contemporary and engaging baby thank you cards, keeping the range fresh and up to date. This allows her to provide bespoke thank you cards that are rising in popularity given the baby market is all-year-round and booming.

Rebecca Davies, founder of Invite Press, said: “I have an artistic background so design and creativity comes naturally to me and is an area I’m hugely passionate about. After growing up in America and seeing the wide variety of personalised stationery available, I recognised there was a gap in the UK market for customers to input into their design, whether that be invitations, save the date cards or in this case baby thank you cards, and create something unique to them.

“I love creating bespoke and professional designs and forging that close working relationship with new parents who are so proud of their latest arrival. The baby market is definitely a growing one for my business and with new ranges being brought out all the time, I’m confident I will see more new parents choose a personalised thank you card as their preferred method of communication.”
