Andover pet enthusiast to take part in London Marathon for Dog’s Trust
After years of trying for a place in the London Marathon, 2023 is the year that one local pet enthusiast’s bucket list wish comes true. When not being a mum to her beloved woofer Noodles (and hooman daughter Tabitha) and working as Franchise Support Manager at Petpals, the UK’s longest-established multi-service pet care brand, Tracey Dawber has been training hard to ensure she puts her best foot forward when she runs to raise money for Dog’s Trust on 23rd April.
“Finally, after years of trying, I’m thrilled to have the chance to participate in this year’s London Marathon and raise money for a cause that is incredibly close to my heart,” says Tracey. “I’m so excited to lace up my shoes and smash that finish line, knowing I’ve made a difference.”
Over the years, Tracey’s commitment to giving back to the Andover community and beyond has seen her participate in numerous running events, but this marks her first marathon.
“As someone passionate about helping my community in any way that I can, I’ve had the privilege of taking part in many running events over the years,” explains Tracey. “Each one has been a journey of self-discovery and an opportunity to raise important funds and awareness for such worthwhile charities. As I train for the London Marathon, it feels like a culmination of all my hard work and the pinnacle of my running journey.”
After years of fundraising in running events across the country, Tracey will take part in her biggest challenge yet when she runs in the largest marathon event in the UK.
“It’s taken months of physical and mental preparation to get me to this point, but it’s not just about the physical and mental aspects of running a marathon,” says Tracey. “It’s also about the emotional investment and my drive to make a difference. It’s been tough, but every day I remind myself why I’m doing this for such a fantastic cause, and it gives me the strength to keep going.”
Raising money for Dog's Trust was a no-brainer for Tracey, given her role as Franchise Support Manager at Petpals, an award-winning pet care brand that places a high value on providing pets with top-quality care and support. When a dog is in distress, needs a home, or owners need a helping hand, Dog’s Trust is there.
“Since joining Petpals, I’ve seen first-hand the incredible bond between pets and their owners,” says Tracey. “It’s a relationship built on love, trust and loyalty, and it’s something that we at Petpals are passionate about preserving through our pet-preferred pet care services. That’s why I’ve chosen Dog’s Trust as the charity I’m supporting at this year’s London Marathon. Their tireless efforts to provide care and support to dogs in need are truly inspiring. I believe that every dog deserves a loving home, and I’m so proud that I will help make that a reality with the money I raise this year.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me so far; I appreciate all the well wishes and every penny you can spare,” continued Tracey. “It means the world to me and Dog’s Trust.”
On Tracey’s latest marathon, Kevin Thackrah, Director of Petpals, says: “Tracey’s passion for pets and commitment to their wellbeing is a true reflection of what our brand stands for. At Petpals, we believe that pets deserve the best possible care, and Tracey’s participation in this year’s London Marathon is a testament to that commitment. I’m proud to be supporting her and Dog’s Trust. Good luck, Tracey!”
