Try your hand at pottery on World Creativity and Innovation Day

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at pottery or clay modelling, this week’s World Creativity and Innovation Day is the perfect opportunity. The UN-backed event is being celebrated around the world on 21st April and is aimed at raising awareness of the role creativity plays in personal development and how art can enrich our lives.

To help celebrate the big day, Courses and Clay are offering special taster sessions in various forms of clay modelling, pottery, and sculpture. Working with clay is definitely a hands-on experience and will appeal to anyone who wants to channel their inner artist and get stuck in, or simply wants to experience something creative and completely different!

Creativity is at the heart of what Courses and Clay wants to facilitate by offering a range of classes and expert coaching to small groups working with clay. The idea of the taster session is to let people try out something new while having fun in a warm, friendly and encouraging environment.

Owner Richard Wilks says World Creativity and Innovation Day is a great chance to experience the unique properties of clay: “Clay is a wonderful material to work with although it can seem pretty daunting to someone who’s never tried it before. The taster sessions are perfect to have a go at modelling and see whether or not it’s for you. It’s a hands-on experience in every sense and one most people seem to love!”

Classes generally are restricted in size so Richard can work with attendees on a one-to-one basis, helping them to get the most from each session. A trained art teacher, professional potter and sculptor, Richard gets a real buzz out of sharing his love of working with clay with people of all ages.
